The iPhone XS and iPhone XS went up for pre-orders around an hour ago and are still in stock. However, the shipping times of certain variants of both handsets have slipped by a few weeks now.
The shipping times of the iPhone XS Max 512GB was the first one to slip. It slipped to September 28 – October 4 week within minutes of the pre-order going live. Given the high price of the handset, it is likely there’s not much demand for it but whatever demand is there, it was more than what Apple anticipated it to be.
The shipping estimate of iPhone XS Max 256GB has also slipped by 2-3 weeks, with most customers now getting a shipping estimate of 2nd week of October.
Shipping estimates for the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max have slipped by 1-2 weeks on AT&T’s online store. T-Mobile’s even worse with shipping estimates slipping to 3-4 weeks. There seems to be more demand for the carrier models as the SIM-free unlocked iPhone XS and XS Max units continue to be available for September 21 delivery.
Remember that shipping estimates from Apple are just that, estimates. They can improve by a few days to a week or two down the line.
As for Apple Watch, shipping estimates for the stainless steel models have slipped to October 5 to October 12. There seems to be more demand for the GPS variant of the watch as almost all variants are now shipping in the 2nd week of October, with the Cellular variant still available with launch day shipping.
