As I write this, it’s a little before 5:00 PM PST, or 8:00 PM EST, which means that on the other side of the globe the iPhone XS and iPhone XS have been on sale for a bit of time already.
And as the hours inch further into night here in my neck-of-the-woods, more and more people are starting to get their hands on Apple’s newest flagship iPhones. We’ve already seen folks get their handsets delivered, and the lines have been forming in markets all over the globe in preparation. But for a lot of us, me included, we’re still left to wait in the wings.
There’s always that question of whether or not everything is going to work out. While the order might be placed, and a date has been given to us as an “expected delivery”, or something similar to that, there’s always that hesitation. Will we actually get it on that date? What if something happens and our order gets changed some how, with a later ship date, or, worse, cancelled altogether?
Even when I wrote about preorder experiences, some folks pointed out that they ran into their orders being cancelled in the process. Being left to deal with customer support reps and trying to get everything finalized. It’s all in an effort to get the new phone(s) on launch day, but sometimes, when the worst happens, it can be just about getting the phone at all.
For instance, we heard in at least one instance that an order consisting of two iPhone XS Max units had changed its delivery to “Rescheduled Delivery”. An Apple Watch Series 4 ordered at the same time was still on time, though.
Here’s the unfortunate news from Jay:
“My name is Jay i frequent this website for all iPhone related info.. and was wondering if you have come across this before. I ordered 2 iPhone Xs Max for my wife and myself as well as an Apple Watch series 4.. both iPhones are now saying rescheduled but my watch is on time. Also says my watch is in KY right now.. but phones show it hasn’t left China yet..”
There were the issues with “Shipment on Hold” notifications for some orders, too, but apparently those were in error on Apple’s end and, in most cases, have been fixed. And then these issues with UPS as well, as noted by MacRumors:
UPS is telling my Apple rep that that's just their computers screwing up, but they fully expect it to arrive tomorrow

But, I wanted to reach out to all of you and see where your shipping estimates are at now. Unless of course you’re in a market where you could already get your hands on the new iPhones or the Apple Watch 4, then in case let us know what you think of Apple’s newest devices so far!
[thanks for the heads up, Jay!]
