Snap is unveiling two new designs for its Spectacles 2 sunglasses: Veronica and Nico. Both sunglasses sport a traditional design and come with polarized lenses.
In terms of features and specifications, both spectacles are the same as the Spectacles 2. This means they still house a camera on the right edge of the frame, with an LED ring on the other. They are also water-resistant and can store nearly 3,000 photos or 150 videos.
They only differ by design as they come with a more traditional looking frame and polarized lenses which was requested by many people. They also come in a more subtle black semi-protective cases instead of a bright yellow one like the original Spectacles 2.
Snap says the launch of the Spectacles 2 has led to a 40 percent increase in photos and videos being captured and uploaded with the glasses.
The Nico and Veronica Spectacles 2 can be purchased from Snapchat.com for $199.99. That’ a jump of about $50 from the regular Spectacles 2 which retail for $150. For now, the sunglasses will be available in limited quantities but they will make their way to select Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom stores retailers in the US and a variety of retailers in Europe. Interested customers will also be able to order prescription lenses for their Spectacles from Lensabi.
Snap will also be rolling out a new Snapchat feature later this fall which will automatically curate and create a Highlight story from all the snaps that one takes from their Spectacles in a single day. A Highlight Story will essentially highlight the best moments of your day and save you the trouble of going through all the snaps you have taken in a day to find the best ones.[Via Snap]
