A sketchy new rumor originating on China’s Weibo claims that the 2019 iPhone XS Max successor will feature a triple-lens camera setup, a massive 4,000mAh battery, 15W wireless charging, and a 120Hz OLED display.
The leak comes from an unverified source and given the claims being made, it is difficult to vouch for its authenticity.
As per the leak, the 2019 iPhone XS Max triple-camera setup will include a wide-angle lens similar to the one used by Huawei on the Mate 20 Pro, with the telephoto lens getting a boost to 3x optical zoom.
The rumor claims the phone will come with a massive 4,000mAh battery despite carrying the same design as the outgoing model. This sounds too good to be true since without changing the form factor much, Apple won’t be able to fit in such a massive battery inside the iPhone XS Max successor. It also claims the notch at the front will be smaller than before.
Some of the other claims made in the leaks are a bit more difficult to digest. This includes the addition of 15W fast charging and Apple switching to a 90-120Hz refresh rate display. Apple offers 7.5W wireless charging on its 2018 iPhone lineup and it will be very unlikely for the company to double the wireless charging speeds at one go with its 2019 iPhone.
Similarly, we have not seen Samsung debut a 90-120Hz OLED panel on its own devices so it will be unlikely that Apple will be the first to market with it. After all, the company sources its OLED panels from Samsung itself. Nonetheless, a faster refresh rate will provide a smoother user experience as seen on the iPad Pro lineup which features a 120Hz ProMotion display.
