The latest rumor surrounding the upcoming 7th gen iPad claims that it will retain the headphone jack and the Touch ID. That’s unlike Apple’s 2018 iPad Pro lineup which replaced Touch ID with Face ID and gave the headphone jack a miss.
There have been rumors of Apple switching to a slightly larger 10-inch display on the 2019 iPad. However, today’s report from Macotakara paints a contradictory picture about it. Citing supply chain sources, it says case designs for the new iPad are going to be the same as the existing model. One supplier said that the display size would be 10-inches while the other said it would be 9.7-inches.
As for internal refresh, it is likely the new 2019 iPad will feature an A11 Bionic chip and retain most of the same specs as the existing model. The report claims that Apple will launch the new 2019 iPad alongside the iPad mini 5 which is also expected to retain the same external design and only receive an internal refresh.
With rumors about the new iPad picking up steam, it is likely that we are going to see Apple launching the tablet alongside the iPad mini 5, AirPods 2, and AirPower later this month. The company is rumored to hold a media event on March 25 where apart from hardware products, it will also announce its news subscription service and video streaming platform. Apple might not specifically talk about its new hardware offerings at the event but the devices will likely go on sale after the event.
