In his latest note, J.P. Morgan Chase analyst believes that Apple would be launching four new iPhone models in 2020 with major upgrades which would see them do very well from a sales viewpoint.
The analyst believes that Apple will launch three iPhones with OLED displays and 5G in 2020. The three iPhones will carry a screen size of 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch, and 6.7-inch, respectively. Two out of the three iPhones will also feature a 3D ToF sensor for AR/VR capabilities.
Reputed analyst Kuo and other rumors have also pointed to Apple shaking up its iPhone lineup in a big way in 2020. While the addition of 5G in iPhones in 2020 is definitely going to be a big deal, the change in screen size is going to be an even bigger one from a consumer viewpoint.
As for the fourth iPhone, it would be priced even lower than the iPhone XR. To achieve its low price tag, the phone will give the 5G modem and the OLED display a miss.
Thanks to major internal upgrades and 5G connectivity, the J.P. Morgan Chase analyst believes that Apple will ship around 195 million iPhones in 2020. That’s around 15 million more than the 180 million units the company is predicted to ship this year.
While the 2020 iPhones are shaping up to be a major upgrade, the 2019 iPhones are going to be relatively modest in terms of changes and focus only on internal upgrades. The highlight of the 2019 iPhone 11 lineup is going to be the triple rear camera setup, while the 2020 iPhones are expected to pack 5G and other new AR/VR related features.
