Foxconn is reportedly hiring thousands of employee to gear up for the upcoming iPhone launch. Apple is scheduled to launch new iPhones next month and typically the demand is at a peak in the first few months of launch.

According to a report by Economic Daily News, Foxconn is currently looking out to hire thousands of workers. Furthermore, it is also rumored that the company is paying a one-time bonus of 4,500 Chinese yuan to employees who will renew the contract.

The upcoming iPhones will be produced in Foxconn’s Shenzen factory. If the reports are to be believed, Apple will launch three new iPhones with 5.8-inch, 6.1-inch and 6.5-inch display, which is similar to last year’s lineup.

Our Take

Previously, Foxconn has been under scrutiny for its work conditions. Strangely enough, Foxconn had fired 50,000 contract workers citing low iPhone demand in March this year. The Foxconn worker’s salaries and benefits took a hit as the demands for iPhone slumped. Employees work overtime and earn more during the peak season, however, the peak season lasted for less than a month last year.

With the iPhone orders likely to pick up, we hope the employees are compensated fairly. As of now, things seem to look bright for workers as the company is offering a one time bonus alongside the usual wages. All said and done, Foxconn still believes that 2019 is a tough year and is looking for ways to cut its expenses.
