Spotify for iPad Gets Slide Over and Split View Multitasking Support

Spotify for iOS has finally decided to take advantage of iPad Multitasking feature that was released years ago. The latest version of Spotify for iOS supports Split View and Slide Over for iPad.

The changes were first spotted by DeepScaper who posted the same on Reddit. Soon others confirmed the new multitasking feature on iPad with screenshots of the same. Typically Spotify doesn’t mention new features in the release notes. Spotify officially confirmed the feature to The Verge and said “We can confirm Split View for Spotify is now available to all iPad users. Our goal is to continuously improve the Spotify experience across platforms.”

To use Slide Over feature, you need to add Spotify to the dock and access it while using other apps. Once done, the Spotify user interface will float on the screen alongside the other app that you are currently using. Using Split view is easy too, all you need to do is drag and drop the top of the Spotify view window to the top of the iPad screen. Once done your screen will be used by both Spotify and your other app.

You need to update Spotify to the latest version to get Slide Over and Split View feature. Check the version number by tapping on the gear icon at the top right of Spotify and selecting “About.” Split View for iPad was first introduced in 2015. The feature allows users to drag and drop stuff between apps, similar to Mac or a PC. The screen can be split in 50:50 or 70:30 ratio, you can decide which app gets more space.
