2019 iPhone 11 Will Take Better Low-Light Photos, Lack 3D Touch

A Bloomberg report has detailed all the new features that will be coming to this year’s iPhones. As per the report, Apple will indeed be using the ‘Pro’ name branding for the 2019 iPhone XS Max successor.

The highlight of the 2019 iPhone 11 series is going to be their triple-camera system at the rear. Apple will smartly be using the triple-camera system to take three photos simultaneously and then use AI to merge them together. The new camera system will also capture better low-light photos and take higher resolution photos.

The 2019 iPhone XR successor will be featuring a dual-camera system which included a new telephoto sensor. It will also be available in a new green color.

The video recording capabilities of the new iPhones will also be significantly improved. Users will be able to directly apply effects, alter colors, reframe a scene, and more whilst recording the video.

The new iPhones will also feature reverse wireless charging something which we have heard from other sources as well. This will allow users to wirelessly charge their AirPods provided they have the optional Qi wireless charging case.

While not mentioned in the report, the iPhone 11 series will come with bigger batteries to support this feature.

In terms of design, the iPhone 11 series will look the same as their predecessor. However, some color options will have a matte finish compared to the glossy finish of the existing models. They will also come with a new shatter-resistant technology that will help them better withstand drops. The water resistance capabilities of the new iPhones will also see a major improvement.

Apple will also be improving Face ID on the 2019 iPhone 11 series. They will feature a new multi-angle sensor with a wider field of view. This will make Face ID more reliable and reduce failed unlock attempts.

The iPhone 11 series will be getting rid of 3D Touch for good. Instead, just like the iPhone XR from last year, Apple will be introducing Haptic Touch on them. All three new iPhones will be powered by a faster A13 chip. It will have a new component known internally as “AMX” which will handle heavy math-related tasks. This will help reduce the load on the main processor for AR-related tasks.

Apple is widely expected to announce the iPhone 11 series on September 10.

Our Take

It seems clear that the new iPhones are going to be all about the improved camera performance and other incremental new features and enhancements. The name change this time around looks interesting as Apple may throw in some additional features in the Pro model to differentiate it from the other models.
