Kuo also predicts that Japan Display will gradually ramp up OLED supply for Apple Watch. Initially, it is expected to be in the vicinity of 15-20 percent and if all goes well then Japan Display will supply 15-20 percent of orders by 2021. It seems like Apple is trying to diversify its supply chain.
Thats not all, Apple is also looking to increase the volume of LG’s OLED display supply for iPhones and also bring onboard Chinese based BOE as a secondary supplier. Apple seems to be doing the right thing especially with the looming trade war between China and the U.S. Also, Apple Watch is currently ruling the roost
Previous rumors have pointed at a new ceramic casing design for the Apple Watch. However, we are not sure whether it will be added for Apple Watch Series 5 or reserved for the sixth iteration. Another rumor says that Apple Watch Series 6 will come with MicroLED displays. That being said, the rumor mills are pretty quiet when it comes to Apple Watch 5. As explained earlier, the Apple Watch 5 is expected to be launched alongside new iPhones next month.
Meanwhile, the new watchOS 6 comes with features like a dedicated App Store, New Watch Faces, New System Apps, Reminders App, support for third-party music apps and much more.
