Kuo claims that Apple is piggybacking on the following factors for new iPhones, new form-factor, 5G support and camera upgrade. He also claims that the feature will help Apple achieve better YoY growth in 2020. That being said, Kuo has not explicitly stated how the 2020 iPhone form factor will be different. However, he has earlier pointed at the rear time of flight (ToF) sensors and new AR features on next year’s iPhone.
The analyst also claims Apple will offer iPhones in 5.4-inch and 6.7-inch as opposed to current 5.8-inch iPhone XS and 6.5-inch iPhone XS Max. Sadly, Apple is not going to offer 5G support for 2019 iPhones and seems to have reserved the same for 2020 iPhones. We wonder if lack of 5G will deter the prospective consumer from buying 2019 iPhones.
Kuo also speaks about how Apple will employ a new antenna design in order to accommodate ultra-wideband tech. Apart from Apple Tags, the ultra-wideband technology will also help indoor navigation and is likely to work with Bluetooth icons for indoor mapping. Furthermore, we have also learned that 2020 iPhones could launch with In-Display Touch ID whilst retaining Face ID.
