Apple has launched AppleCare+ protection plan for the AirPods and selected Beats headphones. This is the first time that the company is offering its extended AppleCare+ accidental coverage to Beats products and the AirPods.
Apple has priced the plan reasonably at $29. What this means is that by only paying an additional $29, you will be able to extend the warranty of your AirPods or Beats headphones to two years. Additionally, you will also be covered for two accidental damage incidents, though there will be a service fee of $29 + tax for every incident.
The following Beats headphones are eligible for AppleCare+:
- Beats EP
- Beats Pro
- Beats Solo3 Wireless
- Beats Studio3 Wireless
- Powerbeats Pro
- Powerbeats3 Wireless
You can get AppleCare+ for any of the eligible headphones above within 60 days of purchasing them. So, if you have already purchased AirPods or any of the Beats headphones, you can still add AppleCare+ coverage to them provided the 60-day limit is not over.
AppleCare+ also covers the battery for the AirPods and the Beats headphones. For most users, the battery of their AirPods seems to give away after a year of use. Thus, the additional $29 is totally worth it in such a scenario. The only catch here is that AppleCare+ for the AirPods does not cover theft or loss, so in that scenarios, you will still have to pay from your own pocket to get yourself replacement AirPods.
