When Apple announced iOS 13 back at WWDC 2019, it did not boast about any battery life improvements with the OS. However, it is pretty common for new iOS releases to bring about a slight hit in battery life due to the sheer number of new features they bring to the table.
With iOS 12, we saw that all the performance improvement came at a slight hit to battery life. iOS 13 does not boast of any major performance improvements like iOS 12 but it does bring a lot of new features to the table. So does that mean installing iOS 13 will also have a slight negative impact on the battery life of your existing iPhone?
As tests conducted by YouTuber iAppleBytes on the iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, and iPhone 8 shows, iOS 13 does not have any kind of negative impact on battery life. The YouTuber used Geekbench’s battery life test to run down the battery of the phones while running iOS 12.4.1 and iOS 13. The results show that there is a difference of around less than 5 minutes between phones while running iOS 12 and iOS 13. This confirms that despite bringing a barrage of new features to the table, iOS 13 will not have any negative impact on the battery life of your iPhone.
While newer iOS releases were also notorious for slowing down older iPhones, Apple seems to have realized its mistake and iOS 13 does not have have any kind of negative performance impact.
If you want even better battery life from your iPhone, you should consider upgrading to the iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro as they offer substantially better battery life than any of the previous iPhones.
