A report from China suggests that Apple will launch the AirPods Pro with noise-cancellation for $250. It claims that Apple could launch the new AirPods Pro as soon as the end of this month as they have already entered into mass production.
The new AirPods will feature an entirely new metal design for better heat dissipation. They will also feature air vents to aid noise cancellation.
The new AirPods Pro will be positioned as a more premium offering as its higher $249 price tag and ‘pro’ naming scheme would suggest. Apple would continue to sell the regular $159 AirPods alongside it.
We have heard from multiple sources that Apple is indeed working on AirPods featuring noise-cancellation, a new design, and a higher price tag. Multiple references to the AirPods with noise cancellation have also been found in iOS 13.2. However, most reports have claimed that Apple will launch the new AirPods Pro early next year. This year, Apple already announced the 2nd gen. AirPods featuring longer battery life, its new H1 chip with lower latency, and an optional Qi wireless charging case.
If Apple does intend to launch the AirPods Pro this year, it would like to do so at a media event where it could potentially also announce the new 16-inch MacBook Pro and iMac refresh. However, the company is yet to send out media invites for any such event that will presumably be held at the very end of October.
The wireless Bluetooth earbuds market has changed a lot since the original AirPods were released. While AirPods still dominate the market, a number of other impressive earbuds are not also available with a superior feature set that includes active noise cancellation, water-resistance, and better sound quality. By launching the AirPods Pro with improved sound quality and noise cancellation, Apple will ensure that the AirPods don’t end up falling behind the competition.
