Instagram Launches Threads, a Chat App That Lets You Stay in Touch with Your Close Friends

Instagram has introduced yet another app called Threads. Last time around the company had launched Instagram TV and later integrated the same into the Instagram app. Threads is an app that lets you share text, photos, and videos with your friend’s list. It seems like Threads is an extension of Direct messaging. You will also be able to share things like location, status, and private data.

Threads app hinges on the idea of close friends, a list of pals with whom you are comfortable sharing personal stuff. Furthermore, the app is divided into three screens, the first is a camera screen. You can take pictures and share them with your friends. Threads also let you customize shortcuts for your close friends and use the app to stay in touch with them. It is worth noting that the new apps don’t feature filters.

Threads is a standalone app designed with privacy, speed, and your close connections in mind. You can share photos, videos, messages, Stories, and more with your Instagram close friends list. You are in control of who can reach you on Threads, and you can customize the experience around the people who matter most.

Instagram says Threads is the fastest way to share photos or videos with close friends. All you need to do is open the camera, take a snap and share it. The app also lets you choose status like Studying or you can also turn on the Auto Status option which uses sensors on your phone to set your status. This way your friends will know you are driving without learning your location.

Threads also offers a home for all your conversations and messages from your close friends will appear in Direct and Threads. The app will start rolling out globally today. Let us know what you think of Instagram Threads in the comments below.
