Pandora has updated its app with new personalization features. As part of this update, Pandora has introduced a new “For You” tab which populates a music feed based on users’ preferences. Interestingly, the “For You” section not only includes music but also podcasts.
Pandora’s personalized feed is populated by taking several factors like time of the day, day of the week into considerations. The music streaming service will also gauge your mood and play music accordingly. That apart, the app will also include content derived from what others are listening on Pandora.
Chris Phillips, Cheif Product Officer and Head of Technology said: “The new Pandora mobile app connects listeners across all tiers of service to our massive selection of on-demand music and podcasts, personalized content, and unique audio entertainment like never before.” He further added that “Now, all Pandora listeners can enjoy endless and effortless personal discovery across Artists, Stations, Playlists, Albums, Songs, Podcasts, and more”
The update also adds support for Dark Mode on iOS 13. Users will also be able to use Siri voice commands to control music on Pandora. You can simply say “Hey Siri, play Lizzo on Pandora.” The Siri integration also works for the podcast. In the recent past, music streaming platforms are adding new features that bring podcasts to the limelight. Just yesterday, Spotify added a new feature that allows you to mix podcasts and music in the same playlist.
The music streaming now offers an improvised Pandora Modes, a feature that lets users customize their experience on Pandora Stations. Users can choose between “lean in” or “lean back” radio style. Furthermore, the company will also make use of The Music Genome Project which it claims is “the most comprehensive analysis of music ever undertaken.” The new features will be rolling out for iOS and Android users starting today.
