Apple finally fixed its keyboard issues with the scissor keyboard on the new 16-inch MacBook Pro. The company is now expected to launch a 13-inch MacBook Pro with a scissor keyboard mechanism in the first half of 2020.
Digitimes, a Taiwanese publication claims that Apple will add the new keyboard on a 13-inch MacBook Pro. Unlike the MacBook Pro, the display size on new Pro will remain unchanged at 13.3-inch. Recently iFixit pulled apart a 16-inch MacBook Pro and found that the design of a new keyboard is similar to the one on Apple’s Magic keyboard and earlier MacBook models. In all likelihood, Apple will ditch the butterfly keyboard in favor of scissor keyboard on all of its new MacBook’s. Butterfly keyboards have proven to be very unreliable and the issues continued despite numerous improvisations by Apple.
Unlike the butterfly keyboard, each caps are replaceable on the scissor keyboard. iFixit also went ahead and successfully replaced a MacBook Pro key with one from the Magic Keyboard. Under the hood, the MacBook Pro seems to borrow quite a lot from its predecessor, especially the layout. That apart the SSD and RAM are mounted on logic board which means they are not replaceable.
An earlier report by Kuo claimed that Apple will move away from the butterfly keyboard on all of its MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models.
