Apple’s low-cost iPhone SE is being missed ever since it was discontinued. The report claims that Apple is close to releasing a low-cost iPhone SE2. In a recent note to investors, famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed some numbers regarding iPhone SE2.
In the latest note, Kuo mentions that nearly 20 million iPhone SE 2 are expected to be sold in 2020. Furthermore, the device is expected to be launched in the first half of the year and the expectations seem to be very optimistic in nature.
Kuo has already shared a lot of details about iPhone SE 2 earlier. The device is expected to arrive with a 4.7-inch display, a single rear camera and a Touch ID sensor. On the other hand, it will be powered by Apple’s A13 Bionic chipset which is also powering the latest iPhone 11 and 11 Pro. However, the iPhone SE 2 will use 10-layer Substrate-like PCB to mount the motherboard. The component will be less expensive than the one used on iPhone 11 Pro. The iPhone SE 2 is expected to be released in the spring of 2020 much ahead of next year’s iPhone flagships.
Apple is finding it difficult to gain a foothold in countries like India due to entry cost barriers. It is very common for people in developing countries to buy older iPhone models or go for Android smartphones. This time around the company has changed its pricing strategy and has also tied up with financial institutions for cash backs and payment schemes.[via MacRumors]
