New Users from Select Countries Can Get Free Apple Music for Six Months

Apple is giving people yet another reason to switch to Apple Music. The Cupertino company has started offering a 6-months free trial for all new Apple Music subscribers. In order to avail of this offer, you need to take a detour and go via Shazam app. In all likelihood, it is yet another way for Apple to popularise Shazam, which it has acquired in 2018.

The offer is valid only if you have never ever subscribed to Apple Music. All you need to do is download Shazam from the App Store and go to the Library. Once there you should be able to see a popup with the Limited Time Offer. Typically, the popup appears when you are in the “Recent Shazams” section.

Apple is offering a six-month trial as a promotion. In other words, the offer will cease to exist after December 2. Moreover, it is only available for iOS users in Canada, the USA, and the UK. The company is working on several ways to increase its subscribers for Apple Music. The music streaming service already offers a discounted price for students and recently they have started bundled free Apple TV+ subscription with Apple Music.

Apple Music is slowly but steadily challenging Spotify’s numero uno position. Eddy Cue recently told in an interview that Apple Music has 60 million paid subscribers. Meanwhile, Spotify has 100 million paid users. Apple Music was launched 9 years after Spotify’s debut and yet the former is closing the gap.
