Apple has already shared a list of the most downloaded apps and games of the year. App Analytics firm App Annie, however, has gone a step further and provided a list of the most downloaded apps and games of the decade.
This decade saw the smartphone boom and a number of new services like Uber, TikTok, etc. pop up. The list of the most downloaded apps in a decade, however, was dominated by Facebook with the company’s apps taking the top four spots.
As per App Annie’s data, Facebook was the most downloaded app of the decade followed by Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp Messenger, and Instagram. Snapchat came in fifth followed by Skype. Below is the top 10 list of the most downloaded apps from 2010 to 2019.
When it comes to consumer spending, Netflix topped the list followed by Tinder. Surprisingly, Pandora Music and Tencent Video came in third and fourth despite some other services being more popular and having a bigger user base.
When it comes to games, Subway Surfers and Candy Crush Saga took the top 2 spots followed by other popular games like Temple Run 2, My Talking Tom, and Clash of Clans. Despite the massive popularity of PUBG and Fornite in recent times, none of the games made it to the list.
In terms of in-app spending, Clash of Clans topped the list, with Monster Strike and Candy Crush Saga coming in second and third, respectively.
Remember that the data above is based on the total downloads from both iOS and Google Play worldwide.
Chances are that you use almost all the apps mentioned in the list above on a daily basis. What other app or game do you think should have made it to the list? Drop a comment and let us know!
