Apple’s new Mac Pro is finally available in the United States. Alongside its launch, Apple also confirmed that it will be selling a rack-mounted version of the PC soon.
Apple’s website in the U.S. currently lists the rack-mounted version of the Mac Pro as “coming soon” with a starting price tag of $6,499 — a $500 premium over the regular Mac Pro.
The company had earlier mentioned that the rack version of the Mac Pro will go on sale by the end of fall, though that now seem unlikely. If anything, the rack mount Mac Pro will only go on sale in early 2020.
Compared to the regular Mac Pro, the rack-mounted chassis has the handle bars moved to its front — a change necessary to facilitate rack mounting. It also has slide rails on the side for the same reason.
Just like the regular Mac Pro, the rack mounted version can be maxed out with a 28-core Intel Xeon processor, 1.5TB RAM, dual Radeon Vega II GPUs, Apple’s Afterburner, and more.
