When Apple TV+ first launched, all the original shows on the platform received average to less than favorable reviews. Among them, “The Morning Show” starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon was considered the best of the lot. Now, as per Variety, “The Morning Show” has become the first Apple TV+ show to be nominated for Golden Globe awards.

The show has been nominated for the best drama series, while both leading actresses Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon nominated for the best actress in a drama series.

Other shows that have been nominated in the best drama series category include “The Crown” on Netflix, “Big Little Lies,” and HBO’s “Succession.” The winners will be declared on January 5, 2020, with the awards being telecasted live on NBC.

With Apple TV+ launching with only a handful of shows, Apple must be relieved that at least one of them has managed to attract win some acclaim. Before Apple TV+ launched, there were reports that Apple was looking to score Oscar nominations for some of its originally produced content. Even if the show does not end up winning an award, Apple must be pleased with the multiple nominations.
