Apple will be improving its Find My App in iOS 14 to add some useful new features to it. This will include a new notification alert feature based on time and place.
The new notification alert feature in Find My app will automatically alert users when someone does not arrive at a specific location at a scheduled time. The app already has an option to alert a user when someone arrives at a location. This new feature will be the exact opposite of that. It will also have an option to alert a user when a contact leaves a location before a pre-specified time.
If you use Find My to keep a track of the whereabouts of your children, the updated features in iOS 14 will definitely be useful for you. Users will also be able to create such alerts for their own locations for other contacts and customize it for specific days of the week.
The updated Find My app in iOS 14 will also work with AR headsets. Internal code in iOS 14 points to ARKit in the OS supporting headset mode, though it is unclear if it will only work with Apple’s rumored AR headset or other third-party headsets as well. The app will take advantage of AR to offer users more accurate directions to help find lost products. This mode should work well with AirTags, Apple’s upcoming Tile-like tracker.
Apple had completely overhauled the Find My app with iOS 13 last year. Apart from an overhauled UI, the app was updated to detect lost or stolen iPhones and iPads that were offline as well.[Via 9to5Mac]
