Mario Kart Tour for iPhone and iPad Gaining Multiplayer Mode on March 8

Mario Kart TOur

Nintendo has announced that Mario Kart Tour will be gaining real-time multiplayer support from next week. The feature will go live on March 8 at 8PM PT.

You will be able to race against up to seven of your friends or against other Mario Kart players from across the globe. There will be three different multiplayer options for users: With Friends or Others Nearby, Standard Race, and Gold Races.

While Nintendo had been testing the multiplayer gameplay of Mario Kart Tour in beta since December, it required one to have Gold Pass subscription. However, the final release of the feature will be available for all players, irrespective of whether they are Gold Pass subscribers or not. The subscription which costs $4.99/month will be required for “Gold Races” though. It will also unlock the fastest 200cc car in the game and allow one to race against the top tier players.

Released in September last year, Mario Kart Tour was downloaded over 10.1 million times on the first day of its launch. The game has been a runaway success for Nintendo and with the addition of multiplayer gaming, its popularity is going to increase only further. Do you play Mario Kart Tour on your iPhone?
