Earlier this week, Apple released the iOS 13.4.1 update. This is a minor point release from the company aimed at fixing some issues with Bluetooth and a FaceTime bug that prevented calls from going out to older devices. In terms of performance though, does iOS 13.4.1 bring anything noteworthy to the table? Or does it offer the same level of performance as iOS 13.4?
As an extensive iOS 13.4 vs iOS 13.4.1 speed test carried out by YouTuber iAppleBytes across a wide range of iPhones show, the latest release of iOS does not bring any notable speed improvements. iOS 13.4.1 performs pretty much the same as iOS 13.4 in general day to day tasks and the benchmark scores of the two releases are also very close to each other.
Some users, however, have reported smoother animations in iOS 13.4.1 on their iPhones, though there could be a number of factors at play here. If you are not happy with the performance of your iPhone after updating it to iOS 13.4.1, you should restart your device to see if that helps or not. iOS 13.4.1 was a bug fixing update from Apple and it serves just that without regressing in any other department.
While not tested, iOS 13.4.1 should not have any impact on battery life as well. Compared to iOS 13.3.1, iOS 13.4 brought about a decent improvement in battery life, but we are unlikely to see something like that happen again. This is because iOS 13.3.1 had some underlying bug that led to excessive battery drain on many old iPhones.
