Apple won’t approve apps that use 3D Touch to weigh objects on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, but one developer has bypassed its rules with a clever web app that does exactly that. It’s called TouchScale.co, and it’s surprisingly accurate.
The new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus come with Peek and Pop functionality that allow users to preview different types of content with 3D Touch and tap harder to fully access them. Jailbreak tweaks have been taking advantage of 3D Touch to offer new features and one such tweak is 3DNotifications that recently debuted on Cydia.
Picking the best smartphones in the world is always a) incredibly hard, and b) terrific fun. Thankfully. This being an iOS-centric site, you’d expect an Apple iPhone at number 1 and you’d be right. But this isn’t sycophantic – in my other life as the producer and presenter of The Phones Show I do regular top 5 features – and an iPhone is invariably in the top spot because it’s the one top specced phone that can be recommended as the answer to “What phone should I buy” without any real caveats or possible recriminations. There are several iPhones here, plus more Android units, of course. And I’d love to have stuck in one of the new flagship Lumias, except that they’re still a week away. Maybe next time.
Paper by FiftyThree, which has become more of an idea app than solely a drawing app, has recently been updated to add support for Apple’s latest features and devices.
Instagram has been including advertisements within a user’s feed for some time now, but the photo-centric social network is making some changes for iOS users.
3D Touch is by far the most exciting thing about iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, and it’s hard to deny the technology isn’t going to change the way we interact with touchscreen devices for good. But according to one of Apple’s manufacturing partners, it will take three years for 3D Touch to really take off.
One of the tweaks that I have been eagerly waiting for ever since the release of iOS 9 jailbreak is 3D Touch support for Cydia. Fortunately, the wait seems to be over with a new tweak called Tactful that brings 3D Touch shortcut menu to Cydia and allows you to peek into Cydia packages from within the app.
