Today Amazon is expanding its Instant Video reach with Cloud Player apps for Samsung Smart TVs, Roku boxes, and an update to the existing iOS app bringing it to the iPhone and iPod touch.
Listings on the Apple TV iTunes Store were recently updated with a specialised section dedicated to Holiday content, which not only includes music and movies but applications and games as well. As you know, the Apple TV platform hasn’t yet been opened up to third-party developers, leading us to believe that these listings were most likely deliveredÂ to the wrong device.
This is a more than ironic post for this site, but even as someone who only watched the jailbreaking scene from the periphery, I can see jailbreaking isn’t what it used to be. Maybe jailbreaking is going to fade into an even-more niche activity than it already is. I read Jeff Benjamin’s reason’s why jailbreaking is waning in popularity, and thought I’d share there here as well.
When I picked up an Apple TV last week and asked folks what I should do with it first, I think it was a tie between return and get an Apple TV 2 and just jailbreak it. Since I didn’t return the Apple TV and have an Apple TV 3, jailbreaking isn’t an option. At least not yet.
FierceWireless peered into their crystal balls and used their fancy digital number counting machines and came up with something that we all already knowâ€”Tim Cook (and therefore Apple overall) is the most powerful man in wireless. Of course FierceWireless has dataÂ to back it up. The thing is, I don’t this it matters a whit.
Apple will be live streaming todayâ€™s iPad mini event to Apple TV owners via a new â€śApple Eventsâ€ť app. The app, or â€śchannel,â€ť was remotely added to the Apple TV homescreen just today, and can already be used to stream previous Apple event keynotes.
Apple typically doesnâ€™t provide a live stream of its keynote, although it does make the keynote video available a few hours after the event ends. The last time Apple live streamed an event was in October 2010, when the company hosted its â€śBack to the Macâ€ť event.
