Apple has quietly added Watchever – a Netflix-like video subscription service to Apple TV in Germany.

If you don’t have an Apple TV, but other connected devices like home theaters or DVD players or even game consoles, then you’ve probably come across DNLA. DLNA is the alternative to AirPlay that everyone else in the tech world usesÂ and it’s pretty frustrating that Apple devices just won’t play ball (easily) with DLNA. Qualcomm Atheros wants to change that with Skifta as free iOS app that lets your iDevice connect and stream to DLNA/UPnP devices on your network.
Lots of sites are lookingÂ backÂ at 2012 to review the year gone by, but while there is no doubt it’s been a pretty exciting year, I thought I’d start with a look at the year to come and make a few arm waving predictions about what we might see. Well, a few arm waving predictions and a good number of pretty sure bets as well.
Listings on the Apple TV iTunes Store were recently updated with a specialised section dedicated to Holiday content, which not only includes music and movies but applications and games as well. As you know, the Apple TV platform hasn’t yet been opened up to third-party developers, leading us to believe that these listings were most likely deliveredÂ to the wrong device.
This is a more than ironic post for this site, but even as someone who only watched the jailbreaking scene from the periphery, I can see jailbreaking isn’t what it used to be. Maybe jailbreaking is going to fade into an even-more niche activity than it already is. I read Jeff Benjamin’s reason’s why jailbreaking is waning in popularity, and thought I’d share there here as well.
