iPhone Xr Features

Apple is expected to three new iPhones, just like last year. However, it looks like along with two-flagship iPhone models which will come with OLED screen, Apple is also going to launch a cheaper, entry level model with a 6.1-inch LCD screen which could come with MLCD+ display technology that was first introduced by LG in its flagship G7 ThinQ smartphone.

The 6.1-inch model will also sport an edge-to-edge screen like the iPhone X. It will also feature the TrueDepth camera system for Face ID, which means that they will sport the controversial notch design at the top.

The LCD model may come with an aluminum frame instead of the stainless steel frame, lack support for wireless charging and may not support 3D Touch.

2018 iPhone naming

According to the latest report, Apple will be calling the 5.8-inch – iPhone Xs and the 6.5-inch iPhone model – iPhone Xs Max. The cheaper 6.1-inch LCD model will be called iPhone Xr.

Apple has sent out invites for the 2018 iPhone launch event on September 12. It is widely expected that the iPhone Xr along with iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max will be available for preorder on September 14, and will go on sale on September 21.
