Will Apple Approve Streaming Music Service Spotify’s iPhone App?

Streaming music service Spotify has submitted their iPhone App to the App Store for approval.

If approved, it would bring more than 6 million songs on-demand, giving you the ability to create
and save ordered playlists of songs, and it will also allow you to save
your favorite songs offline so you can play them even when you're not
connected to the internet which Spotify considers is the killer feature of the app.

But only problem is that its widely speculated that Apple will reject the iPhone app.

If controversies surrounding rejection or approval of iPhone apps so far wasn't enough, it looks like Apple has another problem to worry about while approving iPhone apps to the App Store.

According to the folks at Wired, the walls of the App Store have been breached as developers of the latest version of Lyrics (1.0.1) have included an Easter egg in their iPhone app.

The Easter egg allows users to turn the profanity filter off and thus be able to view the objectionable and explicit lyric content. We have seen Easter egg in iPhone apps before but this one was a little sneaky as the iPhone app was initially rejected from the App Store because it didn't have a ‘profanity filter’.

Developers were greeted with an email from Apple few days back (along with the availability of the 5th beta version of iPhone OS 3.0) that all submissions to the App Store will be reviewed on the latest beta of iPhone OS 3.0. If their iPhone app submission is not compatible with iPhone OS 3.0, it will not be approved.

Apple also informed developers that though all existing iPhone apps should be compatible with iPhone OS 3.0 they should test their iPhone apps for compatibility issues as any application that is found to be incompatible after the public release of iPhone OS 3.0 may be removed from the App Store.
