One of the most common problems after Apple releases its the latest firmware update for the iPhone is that some users who have jailbroken their iPhone end up accidentally upgrading it.
So when Apple released iPhone firmware 2.2 on Thursday night, quite a few readers ended up accidentally upgrading their iPhones to the latest firmware.
The problem is that they ended up losing the jailbreak and all the unofficial iPhone apps. They are left with two options: 1. Either wait for the iPhone Dev Team to release the latest hacking tools which should be soon or 2. Downgrade to iPhone firmware 2.1.

The simple ringtone hack that was discovered almost a year back still seems to work with the latest version of iTunes (v8.0.1).
It is based on the fact that iTunes differentiates a song file and a ringtone by the file extension. While we all know that the song file extension was AAC; the file extension for ringtones is "M4R".

In iPhone fimrware 2.1, Apple had fixed the security flaw that was discovered in iPhone firmware 2.0.2 which allowed someone to access your data and certain iPhone apps even when you have the passcode lock feature turned on.
The blogosphere has been buzzing about another small security hole in the Emergency call feature that was discovered by a programmer, Karl Kraft's 12-year-old son.

As per this Apple Discussion thread, there are quite a few iPhone users reporting that their iPhone's mail application fails to retrieve mails in the background when push is enabled and regardless of the interval that is set after upgrading to iPhone firmware 2.1.

The iPhone Dev Team had released the Pwnage Tool v2.1 and QuickPwn v1.1 to jailbreak and unlock the 1st Gen iPhone and jailbreak iPhone 3G running iPhone firmware 2.1 almost immediately after it was released by Apple last week. However, the tools were only for Mac users.
They have now released their QuickPwn v2.1 for Windows users that supports iPhone firmware 2.1.
