Native iPhone Game - Raging Thunder

Folks at Polarbit are giving us a glimpse of their gut-churning, tire burning racing game called Raging Thunder for the iPhone by making the demo version available as a native iPhone application via the Installer.

Native iPhone Application - NES Emulator (thumbnail)

I had reported last week about how iPhone hacking genius Jonathan “NerveGas” Zdziarski had figured out a way to get the unofficial native iPhone applications to work with iPhone firmware 1.2 "Aspen" with minimal code changes and by modifying the headers.

As a proof of concept, Zdziarski had also got one of the unofficial native iPhone application Nintendo Entertainment System Emulator (NES app) running on the iPhone firmware 1.2 to demonstrate it. He has just made the NES app publicly available along with source code making it the first native iPhone application to be released for unreleased iPhone firmware 1.2.

iPhone Hack: PlayStation Emulator for the iPhone released

One of the popular categories here at iPhone Hacks since the launch has been games for the iPhone. The reason for this has not been because Apple has been rolling out terrific games for their revolutionary gadget but due to the hard work put in by iPhone hacking geniuses who have brought us the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) emulator, the Game Boy Advance (GBA) emulator and more recently ScummVM, the emulation engine that allows you to play popular LucasArts and Sierra games on the iPhone.

The good news on the native iPhone games continues as MacNN has reported recently that one of the independent software developer, ZodTTD, has released the first public version of the Playstation (PS1 or PSX) emulator for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

iPhone Games: iPhone Hackers Release Game Boy Advance Emulator

GameBoy Advance Emulator for iPhone

Though we have seen a good amount of activity from the iPhone hacking community with respect to the release of native iPhone applications, we haven't seen much or any activity in the iPhone games after the release of Nintendo Emulator for the iPhone.

In fact, I just realized that it has been almost two months since I had written any article on iPhone games so the release of gpSPhone by the iPhone Hacking community is indeed welcome news to take us away (for a bit) from the series of news with regards to iPhone firmware v1.1.2 which was officially released by Apple earlier in the week.
