iPhone syncing problem with PC running Windows 7 and Intel P55 chipset

A lot many iPhone users have been reporting on the Apple Support forum that they have been facing trouble in syncing their iPhones to iTunes 9. 

The root cause of this issue is yet to be resolved, however, based on the complainants' computer configurations, it is doubted to be an issue with Windows 7 built with Intel P55 chipset.

Fix for Disappearing or Wrong App Icons Problem in iPhone OS 3.0

When we had reported that many users were facing the strange Wi-Fi connectivity issues after upgrading to iPhone OS 3.0, one of our readers, LegendarySwag informed us about another annoying issue after upgrading to iPhone OS 3.0.

The icons of some iPhone apps get replaced by icon of some other iPhone app or with a strange combination of multiple images.

Based on this Apple Discussions thread, it seems to be affecting some iPhone users.

If you have an iPhone and a Google Voice account and were disappointed with Apple's decision to reject all Google Voice related iPhone apps then you will be happy to know that you still have couple of options to use Google Voice on your iPhone.

If you have not jailbroken your iPhone then you can checkout Google Voice Speed Dial Bookmarklet generator developed by David Friedman of Ironic Sans.

It is essentially an iPhone web app that generates bookmarklets for anyone you want to call with Google Voice, allowing you to organize your contacts as Safari bookmarks.

When we had described some of the 100 new features in iPhone OS 3.0, we had mentioned that users will get the option to see the remaining battery power in percentage.

But when iPhone OS 3.0 was released, we found out that this feature was strangely available only to iPhone 3GS users and not to iPhone 3G or first generation iPhone (iPhone 2G) users.

Thankfully like MMS and tethering, some clever folks have figured out a simple way to enable this minor but nice feature for iPhone 3G and iPhone 2G users.

Dev Team: Tips & Clarifications to Unlocking iPhone

Jailbreak iPhone 3GS using redsn0w on Mac

The iPhone Dev team had released an updated version of UltraSn0w last week to unlock iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS which they believed would resolve all random issues that were reported by users.

They have just published a post in which they have confirmed that the latest version of UltraSn0w 0.9  has fixed most of the issues reported by iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS users.

They have also provided more details on the list of fixes in case you are still seeing some problem and provided tips on how to resolve them wherever applicable.

Hack to Enable MMS on iPhone 2G running iPhone OS 3.0

The non-availability of the MMS feature for 1st generation iPhone  (iPhone 2G) was probably one of the most disappointing news for iPhone 2G users that was announced at the WWDC 2009 Keynote address.

In fact, the MMS feature is not available currently to even iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS in the US. Some folks had figured out a way to enable MMS on iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS.

Fortunately, it turns out that there is a way to also enable MMS on a jailbroken iPhone 2G.

Rotation Inhibitor: SBSettings Toggle Allows you to Disable Accelerometer

Though the accelerometer is one of the coolest features of the iPhone, I find it annoying everytime I move around in bed while reading on the iPhone, as the screen keeps rotating.

I finally got fed up the other day and had to figure out a way to disable the accelerometer/screen rotation.

Luckily, I stumbled upon a SBSettings Toggle aptly called Rotation Inhibitor which allows you to disable the accelerometer on the fly to stop the screen from rotating.

Step-by-Step Guide to Register an iTunes Account without a Credit Card to Download Free iPhone Apps

One of the things that had really surprised me was that, the App Store wouldn't allow me to download free iPhone apps without registering my credit card details. It seemed strange that even for downloading free iPhone apps; I was asked to submit my credit card details.

Well, Apple has moved along from there, and it now allows users to create an iTunes account without submitting credit card info.
