Microsoft has been releasing its Surface (and Surface Pro) tablet for a few years now, with plenty of changes and improvements delivered along the way.
Over the years, Apple has led in the “premium devices” category, because Apple has predominantly sold devices only in this category — with even the 11-inch MacBook Air landing in the “$900 or more” range.
Microsoft today made a few different announcements, many of which focused on Windows 10, but the company also unveiled a brand new product.
Microsoft today announced its 2016 edition of the Surface Book. The laptop-tablet hybrid has been redesigned internally from the ground up to better thermal performance, up to 2x better graphics performance, and better battery life. From the outside, though, the Surface Book looks exactly like its 2015 edition.
Microsoft has rolled out a new ad for the Surface Pro 4 in which it mocks the MacBook Air for its lack of touchscreen, slower internals, and beefier form factor. It comes just two weeks after another Surface ad took aim at the iPad Pro.
Microsoft has held a pretty “anti-Apple” message in its product advertisements as of late, and that trend continues with the latest video ad for the company’s Surface Pro 4.
Microsoft is said to be developing its own all-in-one PC that will go head-to-head with Apple’s popular iMac lineup. The machine will fall into Microsoft’s Surface portfolio, according to industry sources who are familiar with the software giant’s plans.
At this point, it isn’t a secret that the Mac lineup from Apple doesn’t have a touchscreen, or stylus support.
As far as tablets go, on the larger side of things Microsoft’s Surface Pro and Apple’s iPad Pro sit comfortably. Well, now they’re the middle of the pack.
