Taylor Swift didn’t speak out against Apple’s payment plan to not have you singing along to the songs on her latest album 1989. While most of us will never be as musically talented as Ms. Swift, we can always happily mumble most of the lyrics to the occasional song in the shower or during the daily commute. But what if the lyrics to every song from your iTunes library was accessible right in the Notification Center? The possibilities of impromptu karaoke are endless.
Notifications is one of the killer features of the Apple Watch. The Apple Watch is like having the Notification Center on your wrist, so it reduces the need to remove your iPhone from the pocket or bag.
The Notification Center in iOS is still incredibly basic. Apple has made some excellent improvements to the Today view, but the Notifications side leaves a lot to be desired. A new concept video below demonstrates some of the things Apple could do to change this in iOS 9.
OS X Yosemite will be launching this month, possibly as early as this week, and one feature we’re looking forward to is Today widgets.
iOS 8 added a feature that we had long been asking for: Interactive notifications. Notifications on iOS 8 will not only give you text preview of the notification content, but will also let you perform an action on the notification without leaving the current app.
Apple confirmed in June that iOS 8 will have support for Notification Center widgets, but there are a number of jailbreak tweaks available for those that are impatient. For instance, NCMemo is a new iOS extension that adds a quick memo widget to Notification Center on iOS devices. We have a rundown of the package, including where you can install it from, ahead.
When I have my iPhone on the desk next to me, I often see banner notifications pop up on the top of the screen. The problem is that they disappear in just a few seconds, and I am often too busy doing something else to see which app is notifying me. For the longest time, I would open Notification Center and scroll through all of the apps to see where the notification came from.
NCWeather as the name suggests is a nifty little jailbreak tweak that adds a beautiful weather widget to Notification Center.
Unlike Notification Center’s Today tab introduced in iOS 7, which shows you just provides the current weather forecast, NCWeather provides a lot more information.
If you were a fan of the Favorite Contacts custom widget for Notification Center then we’ve some good news.
The jailbreak tweak is now available for iOS 7, and it is called Favorite Contacts 7 for Notification Center.
