Due to an error on Apple’s part, it was after years that we saw a jailbreak being available for the latest public release of iOS. While Unc0ver and Chimera have both been updated to jailbreak iOS 12.4, they both lack support for A12/X Bionic devices like the iPhone XS and iPhone XR.
With no Cydia Substrate support, a jailbreak for A12X-A12X Bionic devices like the iPhone XS is kind of in a fix. Saurik has openly expressed his frustration with the jailbreaking community and it is unclear if he still intends on adding support for A12(X) Bionic devices to Cydia Substrate.
The @pwn20wnd team has all but completed their side of the work to jailbreak iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2 on A12-A12X Bionic devices like the iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and the 2018 iPad Pro. However, they have not yet released the jailbreak to the public as Saurik is still working on updating Cydia Substrate with A12(X) Bionic support.

To help make the jailbreaking experience better for them, I have already compiled a list of the best jailbreak tweaks for iOS 12 – iOS 12.4. Patiently waiting for unc0ver to add iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2 jailbreak support? The pwn20wnd team has been steadily working behind the scenes on that and they have even teased Cydia support for iOS 12.
After quite a few weeks of teasing, the @pwn20wnd team has gone ahead and released the first public jailbreak for iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2 using Unc0ver. While there was rootlessJB before, it lacked Cydia and Substrate support which made it difficult to install tweaks. The latest unc0ver beta has full support for Cydia and Substrate which makes the whole jailbreaking process easier. If you have already jailbroken your iPhone or iPad and are looking for some useful Cydia tweaks, check below.
SSH-based iOS 12.1.2 – iOS 12 Jailbreak RootlessJB 3.1 Released With Ability to Install Cydia Tweaks
Earlier this week, we saw Jake James release rootlessJB, an SSH-based developer oriented iOS 12.1.2 – iOS 12 jailbreak. It was not particularly a useful jailbreak since it did not support tweaks or code injection of any kind. Thanks to rapid development from James though, rootlessJB has now been updated to support Cydia tweaks.
Now that an iOS 11.4 – iOS 11.4.1 jailbreak is out from both Electra and unc0ver team, many people who will jailbreak or have jailbroken their iPhone or iPad would be looking for some useful Cydia tweaks. Since iOS 11.4 – iOS 11.4.1 only adds some new features and enhancements and does not deviate from iOS 11.3 in any major way, most Cydia tweaks that worked on iOS 11 – iOS 11.3 are going to work just fine on iOS 11.4 as well.
More than five months after initially teasing it, the team behind Sileo — Electra — has released the first beta of the package manager which is aimed at replacing Cydia. Despite months of testing, this is the first beta release of Sileo and so it is bound to have some bugs and stability issues.
