The newest version of the operating system for Apple Watch has been unveiled, and, as is par for the course, the first developer beta has also been released.
Apart from seeding the sixth beta of iOS 12 to developers, Apple has also released the sixth beta of macOS Mojave, tvOS 12, and watchOS 5 to developers. Like the iOS 12 beta, the latest beta of all the operating systems does not contain any major new features or changes.
One of the key new features in watchOS 5 is ‘raise to Siri.’ As the name indicates, the feature allows one to trigger Siri when they simply raise their wrist instead of having to push a button or speak “Hey Siri.” This makes the whole process of interacting with Siri more natural and faster.
Apple Watch has struggled to find its place in the world. When watchOS was first introduced to the world, it can with a new way of staying in touch with your friends. The Side button was dedicated to sending heartbeats and digital drawings to your friends. Safe to say, it didn’t really work out. Side button was quickly remapped as the Dock and Apple Watch doubled down on the two things it does best: fitness and notifications.
When Apple seeded the first developer beta of watchOS 5, it did not include the Walkie-Talkie feature the company officially unveiled earlier this month.
Early on Tuesday, Apple officially seeded the second developer beta for iOS 12, the latest version of the operating system for Apple’s smartwatch.
