Folks at Polarbit are giving us a glimpse of their gut-churning, tire burning racing game called Raging Thunder for the iPhone by making the demo version available as a native iPhone application via the Installer.
Even though it is not completely ready, the demo version of the iPhone game is very promising.
Raging Thunder is a gut-churning, tire burning racer which Polarbit has already developed for a broad range of mobile platforms and handheld devices and are looking to release for the iPhone.
As per their website, Raging Thunder allows players various options such as race against time, CPU controlled components or up to three other speed addicts in this fast paced and exhilarating coin-op style racing game (not available in the demo version) but will be the most interesting option to watch for when it is completely developed.
Racing Thunder allows players to choose from a variety of cars, on a variety of tracks set in different beautifully realized environments. The in-game graphics are quite impressive though in the initial version I could not figure out a way to select the track).
You control the car using iPhone’s revolutionary accelerometer as the wheel. Though I managed to control the car with the accelerometer quite well I was not able to catch up with the other cars.
You can checkout the YouTube video below of Raging Thunder in action on the iPhone:
Raging Thunder is available via the Installer App (you can now search for it under the Games category). If you don’t have the Installer app installed on your iPhone then check out jailbreaking iPhone softwares such as: ZiPhone 3.0 or iLiberty which will install the Installer app as part of the Jailbreaking process. But don’t forget to backup your iPhone.
Before you start playing the game I would recommend that you turn off the Auto-lock feature as I observed some kind of freezing when the auto-lock feature got enabled in the middle of playing the game.
It will be great if Polarbit can also make it possible to play the game in horizontal mode when it is officially released (probably via the AppStore).
As always it would be great to hear your feedback on the latest native iPhone game: Raging Thunder.
