iPhone App developers seem to have had a great Christmas, as they are reporting three to four times jump in sales of their iPhone apps from the App Store on Christmas day.
The jump in sales is attributed to the high sales of iPod Touches as Amazon has listed the 8GB and 16GB iPod Touch as the best selling MP3 players rather than the iPhone due to the difficulties in gifting an iPhone compared to an iPod Touch.
148apps.com is reporting that many iPhone app developers who were able to check their iTunes sales reports for the first time after iTunes Connect opened
up after Apple had closed it for the Christmas rush are seeing amazing sales numbers.
Here are some of the highlights:
- The #1 ranked paid iPhone App, iFart Mobile saw a tripling of sales from 13,000 copies a day to almost 39,000 units on Christmas day.
- David Frampton of Majic Software, the developer of iPhone app Chopper, the number 2 paid iPhone game and number 3 paid iPhone app overall, reported 3x increase in sales on Christmas day with sales in the days following still much higher than normal. The iPhone game developer has claimed sales of over 50,000 copies (Chopper is currently on sale for $0.99 during the holidays) for the 4 day period of 12/24 – 12/27 with around half of those sales coming on Christmas day. That’s nearly $25,000 in sales in one day, 12/25, alone.
- Developer of iPhone game, Hit Tennis, Mark Johnson has reported that sales of his iPhone game jumped from 40 to 200 on Christmas day.
- Developers of iPhone app, Cartoonizeme have seen a 300% jump in sales of their iPhone app.
