AppleInsider has reported that according to their source, Carphone Warehouse, UK authorized iPhone distributor has added placeholders for four new iPhones to its inventory system, indicating the imminent launch of Apple’s third generation iPhone.
A screenshot of the inventory system shows placeholders for 16GB and 32GB iPhones in both white and black.
A screenshot of its inventory system provided by a person known to have access to such information shows placeholders for both 16GB and 32GB iPhones in both white and black. They're mixed in among the existing and previous iPhone models, having reportedly cropped up just hours ago.
This follows rumors that Apple had received approval from a certification board for four new iPhones with capacities ranging from 4 GB to 32 GB and could have the video calling feature.
We have also heard that Best Buy had sent an internal memo to inform its sales force that iPhone 3G is now in limited supply and reports from last week that Vodafone had sent an email to its retail staff indicating that the 16GB iPhone has been marked "end of life" by Brightpoint, their supplier.
According to MacRumors:
Entries in resellers' inventory systems should typically taken with some skepticism, as such additions are frequently made on a "best guess" basis without any inside knowledge of future product releases. In some cases, however, as in last week's case of an entry in Best Buy's system preceding the release of the updated white MacBook, such changes to inventory systems can not be entirely discounted.
We will have to wait and see if the placeholders is another guess work or will be for Apple’s third generation iPhone that we all have been waiting for.
I will go for the 32GB black iPhone. Which one will you opt for?[via AppleInsider, MacRumors]
