Tools to Jailbreak and Unlock iPhone 3GS could be Released Soon

We have good news for iPhone 3GS users who want to jailbreak and unlock their iPhone as the Dev Team have announced that they were able to verify that the 24Kpwn exploit that the hybrid team
used on the iPod Touch 2G and it is still applicable to the bootrom of the
iPhone 3GS.

So it means that they will be able to release redsn0w tool to jailbreak and unlock iPhone 3GS.

According to the Dev Team:

This (iPhone 3GS) bootrom was cut in about the August 2008 timeframe, so the
unintended early reveal of 24Kpwn earlier this year didn’t affect the
iPhone 3GS.

So what does it mean?

Dev team had provided the following details when this exploit was first found and used to jailbreak 2ng generation iPod Touch:

It has a fatal flaw in its bootrom that means you will always be able
to pwn these devices no matter what firmware updates come along. This
is the full, untethered jailbreak, something that iPod Touch 2G users
have not had before today.

It looks like the same would also be applicable for iPhone 3GS users.

Dev team has also confirmed that UltraSn0w, their software solution to unlock iPhone OS 3.0 will also work on iPhone 3GS.

The Dev team have figured out a way to jailbreak and ultimately unlock iPhone 3GS within a week of it's launch which is impressive when you consider that it took them almost 6 months to release yellowsn0w, their software solution to unlock iPhone 3G.

We will keep you posted as soon as Dev Team release the tools so stay tuned here at iPhone Hacks. Please feel free to drop us a line in the comment section to give us your thoughts on the latest breakthrough in the cat and mouse game between Apple and the Dev Team.
