Google Responds to FCC: App Store Version of Google Voice App Offers Significant Advantages

We had reported that both AT&T and Apple had responded to FCC’s letter, in which they had demanded an explanation for the rejection of Google Voice related iPhone apps from the iPhone App Store.

Google has also responded to FCC’s letter in which they have stated that the App Store version of the iPhone app offers some significant advantages as compared to the iPhone web app, which we had heard they were developing.

You can checkout Google’s response to FCC’s letter below but before that let me some interesting points:

  • Google has stated that the App Store version of the iPhone app offers some significant advantages as compared to the iPhone web app.
  • They have pointed out that Google Earth application which provides similar functionality to the maps application on the iPhone (which uses a service provided by Google). They have also mentioned that Google Mobile Application provides similar web search capability that can be found in Apple’s Safari browser.
  • They have no iPhone apps pending with Apple for approval.
  • The section pertaining to the conversations Google had with Apple over the Google Voice ban hasn’t been made public.
