iPhone Dev Team has also released the Windows version of Redsn0w 0.9.5.
The jailbreak tool is not meant for everyone. It is targeted only at the jailbreak app developers and is not meant for regular iPhone users. The beta release allows jailbroken app developers to fix "broken" pieces of code in their applications ahead of the public release of iOS 4.0 on June 21.
MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team announced the release of the latest beta version of RedSn0w 0.9.5 on Twitter:
redsn0w 4.0 JB now available for Windows … ipt2g and iPhone3G (but no hactivation till public 4.0).
Some important points to note about Redsn0w 0.9.5 beta:
- The latest Redsn0w jailbreak tool works only on iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G (non-MC version).
- Redsn0w 0.9.5 beta is available for Mac OS X and with this version also for Windows users.
- This beta version does not perform hactivation.
- Do NOT use Redsn0w if you have unlocked your iPhone. This is because iOS 4.0 GM contains a baseband update, which cannot be software unlocked currently.
