iPhone 5 Launch In Second Week Of September, iPad 3 Later This Year

iPhone 5 launch in September

The China Times claims that Apple will launch iPhone 5 in the second week of September, and the iPad 3 launch around Thanksgiving.

The report goes onto say that Apple has placed an initial order of 4 million iPhone 5 units out of which 400,000 units have already been shipped to Apple for testing purposes. The iPad 3 launch is delayed until Thanksgiving due to component shortages.

These rumors also mean that the upcoming September event will no longer just be a Music centric event where Apple usually unveils the new iPod product line. The WWDC on the other hand, as we saw, has transformed into a full fledged software event with the previews of iOS 5, Mac OS X Lion and iCloud.

The frequency of iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch rumors are increasing as we approach their launch dates. Current rumors suggest that the iPhone 5 will sport a larger screen with the faster dual-core A5 processor and a higher resolution camera. Apple is also likely to upgrade the iPod product line and we’re also hearing rumors about 3G iPod touch.

The China Times earlier reported that the iPhone 5 will have an improved antenna system with a metal chassis and an NFC chip. The publication doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to Apple product rumors. Apple had indicated a future product transition during their earnings call and also slipped in information about new video content coming to the iTunes Store.
