Survey: Unprecedented Demand For Apple’s iPhone 5

We’re quite sure that most of you are eagerly waiting for Apple to launch the fifth generation iPhone, which has been delayed until fall this year instead of the annual refresh this summer.

BGR reports that according to a recent survey conducted by RBC Capital Markets, iPhone 5 is seeing an unprecedented demand ahead of its launch compared to iPhone 4.

RBC Capital Markets polled 2200 people August 2nd and August 10th for the survey and found the following:

  • 31% of respondents were very likely or somewhat likely to purchase an iPhone 5. This is higher than the 25% of respondents who planned to buy iPhone 5 last year.
  • 66% of the existing iPhone users plan to upgrade to iPhone 5.
  • 54% of Sprint subscribers and 53% of T-mobile subscribers are significantly more likely or somewhat more likely to buy iPhone 5, if it is available on their current carriers network. So hopefully the rumors of iPhone 5 coming to Sprint and T-Mobile USA turn out to be true.

We’re not surprised as a survey in July had revealed that 35% of the users were ready to buy iPhone 5 even without seeing it, which has prompted some carriers to even start taking pre-orders for Apple’s next generation iPhone.

Apple surely would be delighted to see the survey results. Would you be one of the people standing in a line to get your hands on the iPhone 5 on the launch day? Let us know in the comments.
