Messages Beta App Allows You to Transfer Any Type of Files to iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch From a Mac

Earlier in the week, Apple had released a beta version of Messages for Mac, which will be one of the major features of OS X Mountain Lion that will be released to the public later this summer.

Messages replaces iChat and allows you to send unlimited messages, high-quality photos and videos directly from your Mac to another Mac or an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

iPhoneil has discovered that in addition to photos and videos, you will be able to transfer files of any type to your iOS device or a Mac using Messages beta app.

They’ve published the video embedded below, which demonstrates that Messages is capable of sending files including: .mp3, .pdf, .txt, .sh, .deb, .ipa, .exe, .app, .rar, .tar, .7z, and .zip to an iPhone.

It seems like a bug, but it would be nice if Apple includes it as a feature when it releases the Messages app, which will be exclusively available to OS X Mountain Lion users when the beta program ends.
