LinkedIn – the world’s largest professional social network has finally released their much awaited iPad app. It comes optimized for new iPad’s Retina Display.
LinkedIn has also revamped the iPhone app with a redesigned updates view, which Linkedin says “lets you easily stay up-to-date with connections, industry news, groups, and more”.
LinkedIn has added a Calendar feature to their iOS app, which is quite useful as it pulls your appointments from your Google Calendar or Exchange calendar and shows you profile information of people you are meeting. It can be a useful feature for business users.
The user interface is quite slick and intuitive. When you open the iPad app, you’re presented with three options – Updates, Your Profile and Inbox. Tapping on Updates gives you access to all the news that your friends have shared along with the changes that your connections have made to their profile in the right pane and your appointments in the left pane with quick access to profile information of people you are meeting. You can flick through the pages of information.
Mario Sundar, LinkedIn’s social media manager says:
“This was a chance to go back to the drawing board. To design it for how people use the iPad: morning and night infotainment.”

It has been disappointing to see LinkedIn releasing an iPad app more than 2 years after the iPad was launched, but guess better late than never.
