Ahead of the Lumia 900 launch, Nokia has just kicked off the advertising campaign by taking a dig at Apple’s iPhone and Android-based smartphones.
Nokia has launched a new website ‘Smartphone Beta Test’ (www.smartphonebetatest.com), which features a countdown that expires on April 6th.
It also features a video starring former Saturday Night Live star Chris Parnell. Below that section, there are three videos – at least two of them seem to take a dig at Apple’s iPhone.
The first one titled “Death Grip” seems to go after the antenna issue that was observed on Apple’s iPhone 4. It looks like Nokia didn’t realize that Apple has addressed the death grip issue in iPhone 4S with an improved antenna system.
The second one titled “Outside” seems to take a dig at OLED screens found in Android-based smartphones.
The third one titled “Fragile” seems to again take a dig at Apple’s iPhone.
The video starring former Saturday Night Live star Chris Parnell also seems to target Android-based smartphones.
Nokia has a lot at stake with the launch of Lumia 900, as it transitions from its own Symbian platform to adopt Microsoft’s Windows Phone to take on Apple’s iPhone and Android based smartphones. Nokia will be selling Lumia 900 for $99.99 with a two-year contract later this week.
