It is time to start saving for the new iPhone, as less than a month from now, Apple will start taking pre-orders for their hotly anticipated 6th generation iPhone, according to a report on iMore.
iMore reports that Apple will the unveil the new iPhone on September 12th and will also start taking pre-orders on the same day. This will be followed by the launch after nine days on September 21st.
We’ve since learned that iPhone 5 pre-orders are currently planned to begin that same day, at least in the U.S. Release is still planned for 9 days later, on September 21, 2012. We’ve also learned that the second wave of iPhone launches, the ones in international markets, will begin in the first week of October, likely October 5.
The information on Apple pre-orders comes from sources that have provided iMore with accurate iPhone related launch dates in the past. The information on the international launches comes from sources that have provided our network, Mobile Nations, with accurate information in the past.
Last year, Apple unveiled iPhone 4S on October 4th, 2011 and started taking pre-orders on October 7th, 2011, followed by the launch in US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and UK on October 14th, 2011. In the second wave, Apple launched iPhone 4S in 22 countries on October 28th, 2011, two weeks after the initial launch.
In case of iPad 3, Apple unveiled the 3rd generation iPad on March 7th and started taking pre-orders on the same day, followed by the launch in US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland and the UK on March 16th. In the second wave, Apple launched the new iPad in 25 more countries on March 23rd.
So it won’t come as a surprise if Apple starts taking pre-orders on September 12 – the same day as the media event, followed by the launch on September 21st. It remains to be seen if the second wave of iPhone 5 launch will be after a week i.e. September 28th or after two weeks i.e. October 5th.
