iPad Mini Models And Pricing Details Leaked?

Apple is widely expected to unveil iPad mini at a media event on October 23, but it looks like the device is already making its way into the inventory management system of some retailers.

German website MobileGeeks has published a photo from one such inventory system, which reveals the storage capacities and pricing details of the smaller iPad.

MobileGeeks claims that the photo is from the inventory management system used by Media Markt and Saturn, which reveals that iPad mini will be available in 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage capacities. As per the screenshot, the entry level 8GB iPad mini model will be available for €249 ($323 as per the current exchange rate) and Apple will also offer version with cellular (4G LTE/3G) capabilities, which will start at €349 Euros.

Here’s a look at the pricing of the iPad mini models:

  • 8GB Wi-Fi only – €249 ($323)
  • 8GB Wi-Fi + Cellular – €349 ($452)
  • 16GB Wi-Fi only – €349 ($452)
  • 16GB Wi-Fi + Cellular – €449 ($582)
  • 32GB Wi-Fi only – €449 ($582)
  • 32GB Wi-Fi + Cellular – €549 ($711)
  • 64GB Wi-Fi only – €549 ($711)
  • 64GB Wi-Fi + Cellular – €649 ($841)

It seems slightly more than what we expected. We’ve speculated that Apple will unveil the iPad mini for $299 instead of $249 (which would have been perfect), as it will give the company a chance to drop the price of the first generation iPad mini to $249, when it launches the 2nd generation iPad mini next year.

It also makes sense when you consider that the 32GB iPod touch 5G is available for $299. Apple ideally wouldn’t want it to directly compete with the iPad mini.

But it would be expensive when you compare it with Android-based tablets like Google Nexus 7, which starts at $199 for an 8GB Wi-Fi only model.

It remains to be seen if people are willing to pay a $120+ premium for an iPad mini over Android-based tablets. What do you think?
