The iPad Air will go on sale starting on Friday, November 1st. All indications suggest the shelves at Apple retail stores and other retailers will be stocked full of iPads.
A report at 9to5Mac claims retailers are receiving iPad units in preparation of Friday’s launch. Apple stores should have a solid supply of iPad Air models with some stores receiving up to 500 units. iPad Airs also have been spotted at Walmart. At least one Walmart store has the iPad Air in the display case with a $479 price tag. Unlike other retailers, Walmart is taking $20 off the price of the new iPads at launch.
Apple is also rumored to be enabling in-store pick up of orders that are placed starting midnight PT on November 1st. This would be an unusual move as Apple usually disables in-store pick up and forces customers to travel to a store and wait in line on launch day. Apple would only allow in-store pick up if it was confident that supply of the iPad far exceeds the expected demand.
